PASS

Purpose
EXCEL Academy is an accredited free public education school with the flexibility to learn anywhere, anytime. EXCEL is designed to provide students and parents options for a personalized education plan that can be tailored to their interests and to expand learning opportunities beyond the traditional classroom setting. Enrollment is open for students residing within the Calhoun County School District in grades 6 through 12. Students in the appropriate grades will have the opportunity to participate in extracurricular activities as well as the Calhoun County Career Academy.

Curriculum
The delivery of instruction at EXCEL Academy will be through virtual facilitation or a blended approach, which combines virtual facilitation with face-to-face instruction. Courses will be delivered through Edgenuity. All EXCEL courses are accredited and approved by the Calhoun County Board of Education and the Alabama State Department of Education.

Students will be considered students of EXCEL Academy and will only participate in the graduation ceremony at EXCEL. Students will be eligible for Honor Graduate Awards (i.e., Valedictorian, Salutatorian, Historian, Top Ten) at EXCEL Academy.

Attendance
Please be advised that attendance is recorded for EXCEL students who are in the PASS program. Students will be expected to attend school daily. Students will be referred to Early Warning Court when he/she receives 5 unexcused absences.

Extracurricular Activities
Students enrolled in EXCEL PASS are NOT eligible to participate in school-sponsored athletics,
band, choir, or cheer. 

EXCEL students and parents are expected to:
Maintain the pace of the course set forth by the instructor
Submit assignments and take assessments by the established due dates
Check email daily and maintain regular communication with course facilitators and EXCEL staff
Participate in all State Mandated assessments
Students will adhere to the Calhoun County Schools' Code of Conduct in reference to discipline and grading policy.

Transportation
Transportation to and from EXCEL Academy, programs, or activities shall be the responsibility of the student's parent(s)/guardian(s).
